I have always painted in response to the world and life around me. Places, landscapes, people and events push me to respond in paint to what I experience, both visually and emotionally. The process of painting for me is an attempt to rework those experiences/memories onto the canvas, looking for something new and beyond the initial or persistent impression. I have painted all my life, taught for various short periods by Andrew Sibley, Mervyn Moriarty and Nevil Matthews. Roaming The Landscape is a collection of works created over the last 12 months while living in and travelling around the Cooloola Coast, the Wide Bay hinterland, and the Kansai region in Japan.
