My life in dog years
DOGXGOD
I have lived with dogs for now for 45 years plus.
In the past 42 years of making art, dogs have always appeared as a subject.
My dog paintings are personal.
I currently live with 2 dogs, and they are part of every aspect of my life.
This is a portrait show and as always started with drawing, ink and pencil gestural drawings from life, followed by the paintings.
I have recently started using water-based mediums, pigments and binders working on paper and laminated card.
This change in mediums results in a flow off the brush, quick drying times and a more drawing with paint and multi layered surfaces approach.
I have not concentrated on specific dog personalities, but as the painting progresses it finds each dogs personality.
I guess what I am saying is that ‘I like dogs’
I have known a lot of great dogs.
And I enjoy drawing and painting them.
